Back in 2007-8 Svend-Erik Pedersen from the Selsø (area in the neighborhood of Roskilde DK) gathered some of his playing buddies from Roskilde’s folk music scene to record some of his own composed melodies – released in in 2008 as “Selsølåter” GO0408. (tunes from Selsø)

As a group, they have since played lots of concerts with the music but also performed with the same bandmembers in the folk-rock band Rocky Roads.

On this new release “Regnvejrsdanser” (Rain dancer) Svend-Erik Pedersen has cooperated with singer, songwriter, painter etc. Per Fjord. Together with the Selsølåter group and a number of guest musicians, they present some of their own songs and instrumental melodies

REGNVEJRSDANSER is a collection of songs that have drawn inspiration from several musical sources. First and foremost, Danish and Nordic folk music. Both the instrumental music and the folk song tradition. But along the way you will suddenly hear pure blues, pop and rock music, some South American rhythms, swing jazz and expressive soundscapes with choral voices and recitation. Serious lyrics, humorous songs and surprising musical arrangements.

The two music people Svend-Erik Pedersen and Per Fjord want to tell good stories, and it should preferably not be boring. That’s why variety is a special thing, which in addition to the music is also expressed through a handful of very diverse singers who add raw power, lyrical beauty and refreshing humor to the project.- Another dogma, was that the drummer basically plays without a high hat and cymbals.
