HIALØSA – Julaluvan (The Christmas Hat) GO2624

The super trio Hialøsa from the southern Swedish region of Scania releases an exclusive single this winter to highlight their new upcoming seasonal repertoire: “Scanian Hightimes”

The group learned this song from renowned longdance expert Bitte Kronvist, who sang it to Alva while driving a car to some fiddle festival in the deep forest.

The song is a tale about a farmer who meets a fox, and desperately wants to have its skin for his christmas hat. He offers him a juicy goose to trade for the skin, but the fox is skeptical.. The foxes sister intervenes to stop the trade, but the farmer takes up his bow and shoots them both. So now he can make two hats!

This epic story is interpreted by Hialøsa with their signature intense sound, with Alva’s powerful violin driving the melody together with Love’s energetic singing in the Scaninan language of “Skånska”. All while Malte grooves the low end with a bowed double bass and a heavy stomp.

Producer and engineer Markus Nilsson also couldnt resist adding both cymbals and church bells to the VERY climactic ending
