Trio Mios folkemusik er musik i øjenhøjde, der inviterer mennesker ind med fødder, ører, øjne, kroppe, sved, nærvær – i kredse og små og store cirkler – som deltagere i et BAL . Ved et BAL er publikum en aktiv part i koncerten ved deres *dansante* deltagelse.

Men hvorfor indspiller og udgiver Trio Mio et helt album med rent nyskrevet dansemusik???
Sammen med tendenser fra Nordisk Dans (http://nordiskdans.dk/) og Fod På gulv-projektet ( https://fodpaagulv.dk/ ) er der en lige linje til Trio Mio, der skaber nye kompositioner i en forståelse for dansens form og struktur. ”- En stor del af musikken er direkte komponeret i en proces, hvor vi forholder os til de danse, der findes i Danmark.
Den grundlæggende ide er at blande de simple ‘folkelige’ melodier med mere komplekse og udfordrende grooves, linjer, akkordprogressioner, så der forekommer lag i musikken som både er umiddelbart tilgængelige og alligevel åbenbarer mulighed for længere fordybelse i musikken.
Vi forholder os til det moderne menneske anno 2026 og dets behov for at kende til egen kulturarv og erkendelse af at traditioner kun er levende, hvis vi lægger os selv i dem og arbejder med en aktiv fornyelse.
Trio Mio bruger begrebet BAL; og “bal på slottet” som i eventyrene eller “halbal” er måske begreber der er kendte. Og “enkebal” har man måske hørt om . Men hvad er egentlig bare et BAL? Ifølge den danske ordbog er det et “større, festligt arrangement hvor der danses” – men i folkemusik/danseverdenen er det desuden et vigtigt element, at det er livemusik, der danses til!
Hvis man zoomer ud og op og kigger på det HELT oppe fra er et BAL faktisk noget ret specielt, for selvom der er livemusik, er publikum jo ikke publikum i den forstand at man kigger på og har primær opmærksomhed på scenen. Til et bal er man ikke passiv, for publikum danser med, de deltager. Selve formen BAL fordrer aktiv deltagelse!
Denne her aktive deltagelse som publikum betyder at :
-man bruger sin egen krop
-man rører ved andre
-man er afhængig af at samarbejde og er nødvendig for helheden i formationer, række, kredse osv.-og alle forholder sig til den samme musik, et fælles tredje
BAL er for publikum et fysisk udtryk af et fællesskab – en kultur hvor man er sammen- . og det fællesskab kan favne bredt : man kan ved samme event deltage som både begynder / øvet, ung / gammel, kan spænde på tværs af skills og på tværs af generationer.
Og som musiker, som kunstner, er man også med i det fællesskab!
Ved et bal er impulser BÅDE fra musik til dans, men OGSÅ fra dans til musik. Det at man som musiker reagerer på hvad der sker på dansegulvet – hvis en danser er ekstra glad, laver et tramp eller svinger helt vildt godt rundt med sin partner, så får man som musiker energi af det.
Trio Mio har en ide om at vi kun lige har øjnet starten af den bølge, der vil skylle ind over landet med levende musik, levende dans og levende, dansant BAL!

The Award-winning Trio Mio releases new album “DANSANT”.

Trio Mio’s folk music is music at eye level that invites people in with feet, ears, eyes, bodies, sweat, presence – in circles and small and large circles – as participants in a BALL. At a BALL, the audience is an active part of the concert through their *dancing* participation.

Why does Trio Mio record and release an entire album of purely newly written dance music?
With trends from the Nordic Dance (http://nordiskdans.dk/ ) and the Fod På Gulv projects ( https://fodpaagulv.dk/ ), there is a direct line to Trio Mio, which creates new compositions in an understanding of the form and structure of dance. ”- A large part of the music is directly composed in a process where we relate to the traditional dances that exist in Denmark.
The basic idea is to mix the simple ‘folk’ melodies with more complex and challenging grooves, lines, chord progressions, so that there are layers in the music that are both immediately accessible and yet reveal the possibility of longer immersion in the music.
We relate to the modern person in 2026 and their need to know about their own cultural heritage and the realization that traditions are only alive if we put ourselves in them and work with active renewal.
Trio Mio uses the term BALL; and “Ball at the castle” as in the fairy tales are perhaps familiar concepts. But what exactly is a BALL? According to the Danish dictionary, it is a “larger, festive event where dancing takes place” – but in the folk music/dance world, it is also an important element that it is live music that is danced to!
If you zoom out and up and look at it from the VERY top, a BALL is actually something quite special, because even though there is live music, the audience is not an audience in the sense that they are looking at and have primary attention on the stage. At a ball, you are not passive, because the audience dances along, they participate. The very form of BALL requires active participation!
This active participation as an audience means that:
-you use your own body
-you touch others
-you are dependent on cooperation and are necessary for the wholeness in formations, rows, circles, etc.
-and everyone relates to the same music, a common third
BALL is for the audience a physical expression of a community – a culture where you are together – and that community can be broad: you can participate at the same event as both beginner / experienced, young / old, can span across skills and across generations.
And as a musician, as an artist, you are also part of that community!
At a ball, impulses are BOTH from music to dance, but ALSO from dance to music. The fact that you as a musician react to what is happening on the dance floor – if a dancer is extra happy, does a stomp or swings around really well with their partner, then you as a musician get energy from it.
Trio Mio has an idea that we have only just seen the beginning of the wave that will wash over the country with live music, live dance and live, dancing BALL!
